Linear and nonlinear forms of two-parameter isotherm models are generally implemented to describe characterize an adsorption process. Throughout the previous studies associated with adsorption process, less attention has been paid to comparison of these two methods. The current study was developed to investigate mathematical and statistical properties of these two methods and compare different statistical criteria to specify the best linear and nonlinear curves, fitted to experimental data and estimate isotherm parameters. Toward these aims, the data obtained from an empirical study on nitrate adsorption onto oyster shell coated with nanoparticle zero-valent iron (OS-nZVI) were applied.................

In real-time transmission of multimedia information Ad Hoc faces challenges for the low bandwidth for transmission from source to destination and requires a considerable effort. So we proposed a queuing network model which is based on routing of Ad Hoc networks and analyze the delivery of multimedia packets which has low end-to-end delay and less bandwidth overhead between mobile nodes and which ensures high throughput. We also analyzed the queuing delay in regard of node behaviour of routing and MAC protocols. Here we simulate the parameters of Quality of Service i.e. end-to-end delay and expected hop count using Matlab..........

In this study, the lowering pattern in Mandarin tone production is analyzed, and it is found that downstep exists for high (H) tones. They always drop to a lower scale compared to the forgoing ones. The degree of the first downstep is always larger than the following ones, but there are no differences in the degrees of downsteps for the later HL sequences. The speaker does not only raise the initial H tone when there are more downsteps, but also depress the final H tone. As for the L tones, due to the effect of final lowering, the lowering degree of the last downstep is always larger than the preceding ones. The utterance final L tones are not affected by the number of downsteps.

This study examined the Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) & Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) in summer, rainy& winter season to assess the water quality and sessional variations of Solmari River, Bangladesh. The highest DO value was observed in rainy season than winter or summer season. But the BOD and COD was high during winter and rainy season. This high level of BOD and COD value in summer season indicates the presence of a large number of microorganism's i.e. high level of pollution. The parameter COD is more preferable to BOD because it is a quickly measurable parameter.

Martin Heidegger stands out as one of the greatest philosophers in the contemporary period. His philosophy centers on Being. His contribution to philosophy is to recover the real meaning of Being that other philosophers had forgotten. For him, Being manifests itself anew at different times. He approaches this problem of Being in three stages, the first stage is Dasein analysis, the second is art and truth as a path to Being; the final stage is Being as a process that is expressed as ereignis (eyes of the mind) and Gelassenheit (surrender). Science and technology falls with the second stage of Heidegger's view on Being. Heidegger is not against science and technology but the abuse...........

This study investigates the inflation-hedging characteristics of real estate stocks in Vietnam. Empirical findings show that securitized real estates can provide a partial hedge against both ex post and ex ante inflation, but no statistical relation between securitized real estates returns and surprises in inflation is found. Noticeably, the Fisher hypothesis on the one-to-one relationship between real estate stock returns and expected inflation is strongly rejected. This study has implication for investors by adding to the understandings of the inflation-hedging characteristics of Vietnamese securitized real estates.

Luminescent properties have been improved by introducingan external micro-cavity effect in an organic light emitting device with multi-cathode structure. Angular dependence of the emission intensity and emission spectra were evaluated and it was clarified that the external micro-cavity coupled with surface plasmonis useful for the improvement of the color purity of the emission and out-coupling efficiency compared with an internal micro-cavity effect. In results, color coordinates of the green emission approaches to BT.2020 color standard and an external quantum efficiency becomes higher by a factor of 1.3. The relationship between the external micro-cavity effect and surface plasmon coupling will be discussed from a viewpoint of optical analysis.

The pretreatment (PT) means an important step for 2G ethanol production from lignocellulosics wastes. Therefore, it is necessary that this stage provides feasible results to favour the hydrolysis and fermentations steps. Taking this into account, the aim of this work was evaluate, between the type of inorganic acids (sulfuric, phosphoric, hydrochloric and nitric), the one which can promote the highest total reducing sugars (TRS) releasing on PT step from straw and sugarcane bagasse. In addition, a blend, in a straw/bagasse ratio of 1:1, 1:3 and 3:1 was submitted to PT, applying the same acids reported previously. Lastly, after the choice of acid and straw/bagasse ratio to be applied in the assays, an experimental design was performed, aiming the optimization of PT conditions...........

In this paper, an analytic homogenization model for the double corrugated cardboard plates under transverse loading is presented. This model is essentially based on the theory of stratification and then improved by using the theory of sandwich. The proposed analytical homogenization model allows modelling the 3D complex double corrugated cardboard by a 2D equivalent homogenized plate. This work helps to significantly reduce the computational time as well as time to build the geometry of model. To validate the model, in this work, we carry out the simulation for the corrugated cardboard plates in case of transverse loading...........

A healthy environment is chief requirement of modern society and to make the surroundings to live, especially firstly needed water must be pollution free. Adsorption is one of the best wastewaters treatment process. Keeping in view, we have reviewed the utility of chitosan as an adsorbent for the removal of dyes and metals from aqueous solution, which is a non toxic, biocompatible, positively charged, biodegradable natural polymer and obtained by alkaline deacetylation of chitin. To introduce desired characteristics and broaden the scope of the potential applications of chitosan as an adsorbent, physical and chemical modifications have been carried out and obtained various chitosan based materials. Our review article produced an evidence that chitosan based beads, have outstanding adsorption efficiencies for metals and dyes and can be auspicious substitute for conventional adsorbents for removing pollutants.

The present study again highlights the peculiar effects of Agnihotra vapour providing strong evidence for involvement of phyohormones (Brassonolide) for manifestation of these physiological effects at various stages of plant growth. These studies performed in an open field as a sequel to my previous study [1] have once again reaffirmed the mechanism of action of Agnihotra vapour on plant growth mediated through growth regulator substances. The study provides strong evidence for elucidation through observations the effects of agnihotra vapour on plant growth. In a new set of experimentation the observations were made on plants growing in an open field in contrast to my previous studies where observations were done on plants growing on double-height covered terrace of my home............

Different numerical-experimental methods have recently been introduced in literature for the diagnosis of structural damages by using location-dependent changes in the modal parameters (natural frequencies, damping factors, mode shapes, etc.). The main task is the determination of presence, location and extent of the damage. This work is concerned with the possibility of introducing alongside a manufacturing process an on-line quality control for structural components prior to assembly using modal parameters. Basing on the natural differences among different components, the problem of error measurements, connected with available modal data, could become more noticeable than the health monitoring of an only particular system.............

India is a largest democratic country in the world. The federal structure of the country provides a relatively powerful government at the centre accompanied by 28 state governments. All of them require financial assistance to govern the country and the states. Indirect tax is one of the major sources of revenue. India has been experimenting with the tax structure since independence. After introduction of Value Added Tax (VAT) from 2005, the country is going to experiment with Goods and Services Tax (GST) from April 1, 2013. This paper puts an attempt to explore the pros and cons related to the issue of introduction of GST in India.

The study is an investigation into the potency of rice husk ash (RHA) on some geotechnical engineering properties of soil samples with low shear strength classified as A-7-6 soils (AASHTO., 1986). The investigation includes evaluation of properties such as Specific gravity, Consistency limits, Compaction and Strength of the soil with RHA content of 2%, 3.5%, 5%, 6.5% and 8% by weight of the dry soil. The results obtained reveal that the increase in RHA content decreased the optimum moisture content but increased the maximum dry density. It was also observed that with the increase in the RHA content. Compressibility and plasticity are reduced while volume stability as well as the shearing strength of the soil increased. 8% RHA content was also observed to be the optimum content.

Effects of temperature dependent viscosity and thermal conductivity on heat transfer flow of unsteady micropolar fluid about a permeable cylinder with moving boundaries have been considered for study in presence of magnetic field. In the process, viscosity and thermal conductivity are assumed to be linear functions of temperature. Using similarity transformation the governing partial differential equations (PDEs) of the problem are reduced to ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Adequate numerical technique is used to solve these equations for some of the parameters such as unsteady, suction, injection, radiation, viscosity and thermal conductivity. The effects of skin friction, Nusselt numbers are given in tabular form. The results are henceforth analyzed with the help of graphical presentations.

During the Zimbabwe liberation struggle revolutionary Zimbabwean musicians were motivated to produce music that had an impact on the freedom fighters, war collaborators as well as the civilians. Thomas Mapfumo was one of the pioneers of music that complemented the war of liberation in Zimbabwe as well as motivating the gallant sons and daughters who were fighting in the bush. Mapfumo came up with Chimurenga music to describe his kind of music that evolved in the early 1970s during the Zimbabwe liberation struggle. The study explored the impact of Mapfumo's music during the Zimbabwe liberation struggle........

Improved passive safety and weight reduction are both required for components of new car generation. Thus, advanced high strength steels, such as dual phase steels are increasingly used in car-body production. In each sheet metal forming process, the steels exhibit springback effect, which is governed by strain recovery of material after load removal. High strength steels exhibit more distinct springback effect than steels used for deep drawing. This is mainly due to their higher values of Yield strength. Springback is related to many parameters like forming conditions, tool geometry and material properties such as sheet thickness, yield stress, work hardening, strain rate sensitivity and elasticity modulus. [1-3] In this contribution, effect of blank holder force (BHF) value and value of friction coefficient on springback of stamped part is evaluated. Two materials – double phase steel DP600 and cold rolled low carbon steel used for cold forming DC04 in FEA simulation of the sheet metal forming process were investigated.

Radio propagation is one of the most fundamental parameters in mobile communications engineering. For land-based mobile communications, the received signal variation is primarily the result of multipath fading caused by obstacles such as buildings (or clutter) or terrain irregularities; the distance between link end points; externally generated noise, and interference among multiple transmissions. This inevitable signal variation is the cause of call dropping, one of the most significant quality of service measure in operative cellular (or GSM) networks. For this reason, various techniques and schemes are employed in the planning, design and optimization of cellular networks to combat these propagation effects..............

This paper represents some new experimental results about thermal, mechanical and magnetic properties in NiMnGaFe ferromagnetic shape memory alloy. Ni54Mn18Ga20Fe8 polycrystalline shape memory alloy was fabricated by an arc melting device providing inert argon gas atmosphere. Martensitic transformation (MT) temperatures of Ni54Mn18Ga20Fe8 alloy were determined by DSC and the crystal structure of alloy was investigated by XRD. Shape memory effect of alloy was determined by TMA and after the necessary calculations are made, the results are found as the residual strain r = 3, shape memory effect SME = 2.6 and the recovery rate = 86.6%. The magnetic properties were determined using Mossbauer spectroscopy. The magnetic properties were determined using Mossbauer spectra. The results demonstrated that the presence of two phases coexist which are gamma phase and martensitic phase.

The color decrease aesthetical quality of drinking water and consumer's tendency for using this water. Furthermore, colored water is unsuitable for industrials usage. Color producing material may react with chlorine compounds and creates carcinogen disinfection by products (DBPs). The aim of this study was to investigate Acid Red 18dye removal from aqueous solution by combined conventional coagulation and nanoparticle zero valent iron (nZVI) process. The experiments were conducted in jar test device and efficiency removal was evaluated by changing alum concentration, nZVI dosage, and pH. On the basis of the results, removal efficiency for integrated process was higher than only conventional coagulation. The color removal efficiency for integrated process and coagulation were 93 and 47 percent, respectively. Integrated process can be used effectively for color removal from water in regions with color problems. More studies are needed to investigate other aspects of this process.

Keywords - Coagulation, nZVI, Acid Red 18.
