This work analyzed the energy efficiency of water electrolysis under high pressure and high temperature by current-voltage diagram. Four different kinds of reaction mechanisms namely reversible voltage, activation polarization, ohmic polarization and concentration polarization are investigated in details. At the standard temperature, the concentration overpotential increase with temperature increasing, and can be neglected while current density is lower than 1A/cm2. The whole consumption of electric energy at 500bar/370oCis saved about 17% compared with that at 1bar/80oC. If the power consumption of compressing the gas from 1bar to 500bar is considered, then the water electrolysis at 500bar/370oC saves about 22% of the power consumption.

Keywords - water electrolysis, activation overpotential, hydrogen production, overpotential.

Now-a-days commercial All Terrain Vehicles (ATV'S) use separate hub and rotor. In this research paper we design, analyze, manufacture INTEGATED HUB AND ROTOR (Brake Disc) for all ATV'S. Design and analysis of components is done on CATIA V5 and ANSYS WORKBENCH 16.0 respectively. At first, we designed integrated hub and rotor for ATV in SAE BAJA 2017 competition which turned out to be very reliable. In this paper we are designing integrated hub and rotor (IHR) considering different materials to further reduce weight, overall size and manufacturing cost.

This paper presents the result of research on the composite pre-stressed steel truss for the typical steel truss bridge with deck above. Pre-stressing was carried out by installing tendon / pre-stressed cable at lower part of the truss, connected to their anchorages which are installed at both ends. The composite action of the structure was obtained by connecting the reinforced concrete deck and top chords of the truss using bolts which functioned as shear connectors. To understand the serviceability thereof, a loading test was conducted to the structure with and without shear connectors. A digital mechanical of loading test was used for this purpose. It yielded that the serviceability of the composite pre-stressed steel truss was 71% bigger than that of noncomposite.

Corrosion of mild and medium carbon steels is reported. Steels were exposed to water fetched in Polytechnic Unwana environment and distilled water (control) environment. The corrosion rates were evaluated at intervals of fourteen days for a period of 84 days using weight loss and electrochemical methods. The corroded specimens were visually examined and majorities were found to have undergone general corrosion in all environments investigated. The mild steel was found to corrode more than the medium carbon steel in the entire environment. Mild steel had 2.77x10-4mpy and -0.74mV, due to high rate of permeability and diffusion of corrosion inducing ions. It also has - 0.53mV in the distilled water (control). The medium carbon steel has 2.72x10-4mpy and -0.69mV in water fetched in polytechnic Unwana environment and -0.63mV in distilled water (control).

Keywords - Corrosion, Environment, Carbon Steels.

In this work, base oil was recovered from used engine oil using solvent extraction with butanol, followed by adsorption of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) unto activated carbon prepared from brewers' spent grain. Kinetic and thermodynamic studies for the adsorption process were studied. Kinetic data were fitted to eight models; lagergren pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order, first- order, second-order, Elovich model, intra-particle diffusion, liquid film diffusion and pore (Banghams) diffusion model and it found out that the data fitted well to pseudo-second order model. Thermodynamic study showed that the process was endothermic in nature, feasible and spontaneous. The values of entropy obtained showed that the adsorption of PAH involved a dissociative adsorption mechanism. The activation and Gibbs free energies values confirmed the adsorption of PAH to be chemical reaction-based process.

Keywords - Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), used engine oil, adsorption, butanol, kinetics, toluene, and thermodynamics.

In general, fractal properties may be observed in the time series of the dynamics of complex systems. The purposes of this study are to investigate the relations between the Niño3.4 index and the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI), which are both ENSO indices, from a view of multi-fractality. The Niño3.4 index and SOI are obtained from sea surface temperature and sea level pressure, respectively. To detect the changes of multifractality, we performed the multifractal analysis on the time series of the Niño3.4 index and SOI. Between 1950 and 2010, for the Niño3.4 and SOI, the matching in monofractality or multifractality was observed and the increase and decrease of multifractality were very similar especially for the 1970s, that is the change of multifractality were very similar...........

Renewable energy systems offer environmental and economic advantages in producing energy compared to the conventional fossil fuel systems. However, the renewable energy generated by these sources such as photovoltaic cells has a low-voltage output characteristic, and for most potential applications, a high boost DCDC converter is required. The selection of an appropriate converter topology is an important and fundamental aspect of designing a photovoltaic cell system as the converter alone plays a major role in determining the overall performance of the system. A number of modified high step-up converter topologies have been proposed in order to increase the voltage conversion ratio. However, the converter efficiency is quite low because of the leakage inductance energy stored in the auto-transformer and the coupled inductors............

Positron emission tomography (PET) is a sophisticated imaging method enabling the provision of relatively precise two-dimensional or three-dimensional data on spatial distribution of a radionuclide inside the object, e.g., a patient's body. It utilizes radioactive decay of a particular type that involves positron emission. This technique is currently in use in astronomy. It's adaptation to PET is non-trivial because of the vastly different source distributions and geometry and basic calculus involved. In this paper we formulate the principles and the mathematical models of PET. Some clinical applications of this modality also discussed in the paper.

The assessment of reactor safety during the beyond design basis accident is oneof the lessons learned from Fukushima Daiichiaccident. In this article a total break ofone of the Neutron Beam Tubes (NBT) in a low powerpool type Research Reactor(RR) is analyzed. Two modes of RELAP5 thermal hydraulic system code, Mod3.2 and Mod3.3, are used in the analysis. In addition to the assessment of RR safety, the purpose from using two modes of RELAP5 is to assess Mod3.3 comparing with Mod 3.2 which is widely used in the analysis of RR's safety. The RR is typicallynodalized and a uniqueinput dick is prepared for the two modes. The results showed that, the reactor coolant was rapidly drained and the core was partially uncovered. On the long term transient, theclad temperature in the un-covered region wascontinuously increasedwith time. Therefore, additional measures should be implemented to overcome the consequences of the accident. On the other hand, the comparison shows,in general, good agreement between the predictions of the two modes anddemonstratesthe capability of MOD3.3 in the analysis of RR safety.

Most current seismic intensity scales used to express the degree of ground shaking during earthquakes classify the intensity into 12 classes considering observations based on human perception and the behavior of the surroundings, with the exception of the instrumental seismic intensity scale by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), which is based on an instrumental seismic intensity meter. The present study generalizes both the acceleration weighting factor and the seismic intensity formula used as the JMA instrumental seismic intensity and clarifies the relationships among the different seismic intensities obtained using arbitrary seismic intensity parameters. In this paper, previously proposed methods for obtaining the seismic intensities using the velocity and displacement are compared with those obtained using the presently proposed method with various seismic intensity parameters. Additionally, an index that evaluates the extent of the seismic intensity based on the time history is discussed.

Mainly consumed food that is rich with antioxidant have a protective role of the human cells against the oxidative damage. Vitamin C represent one of the most known antioxidants, and an examined on it was performed in different types of milk. The antioxidant characteristics of vitamin C stems from the fact that it is exclusively good electron donor, and it represent a reducing agent neutralizing the free radicals. In the investigation as a medium were used a few types of milk: raw cows and sheep milk, sterilized whole milk and skim milk, milk with added of vitamins and chocolate milk. Sample extraction was performed according to the method described by Roe and Kuether with certain modifications. Determination of vitamin C was done by spectrophotometer (Spectro Quant Pharo 300 – Merck) at 520nm using calibration curve according to the method of Al-Ani. The highest content of vitamin C was obtained..........

This paper deals with continuous-time identification of linear parameter varying systems with fractional models using a direct approach. Methods based on the least squares and instrumental variables approaches are firstly proposed. Then an optimization approach combined with the optimal instrumental variables algorithm is presented to identify the commensurate order of the fractional model. A numerical example is investigated in order to assess the consistency of the developed methods in a noisy output context and via a Monte Carlo simulation study.

Keywords - Continuous-time, commensurate order, fractional differentiation, system identification, LPV system.

This paper deals with design and real time implementation of a novel navigation strategy applied to a unicycle mobile robot. The principle of navigation is inspired from the natural duck walk. A single sensor (gyroscope) is used in closed-loop to determine the posture of the robot. A global presentation of the robot with its different components are given firstly. An experimental identification for the useful parameters are then exhibited. Design of the neural network and practical validation are given afterwards. Finally, real time experiments are accomplished to valid simulation results.

Keywords - Robot Navigation, Duck walk, Gyroscope, Kalman filter.

Self-compacting concrete is an advanced concrete over conventional concrete. SCC can be placed in form works with avoiding vibration. SCC is a flowing concrete and is able to consolidate under its own weight. SSC improves the filling capacity of highly congested structural members. The main objective of this investigation is of SCC by using partial pozzolanic admixtures i.e, Quartz powder along with Silica fume and with complete replacement of river sand with Quartz sand. The Experimental work involved in optimization of w/c ratio of concrete to be performed as M50 grade mix for SCC used in this investigation, and for which workability studies and compressive strength tests were done at w/c of 0.30 and 0.34 the mix was designed as per NANSU method. For the w/c ratios of 0.30 and 0.34, the compressive strengths for 28 days were 59.53 N/mm2 and 60.28 N/mm2 respectively.

In the present study, a finite strip method for geometric non-linear static analysis based on the tangential stiffness matrix has been developed using the new concept of polynomial finite strip elements, with Reissner (higher order shear deformable element) plate-bending theory for composite faceted shells. A finite strip analysis programming package which is capable of performing non-linear analysis for composite folded plates has also been developed with Reissner plate bending element. Good agreement with the finite element analysis (ABAQUS) results has been observed through various test cases, confirming the accuracy and reliability of the new developed finite strip method.

Keywords - Finite strip method, Reissner plate bending theory, faceted shell, non-linear static analysis.

Urban sprawl began after the industrial revolution in the late 17th century, which led to the growth of industry in the city center. In that era, transportation means such as railways and electric trams, which made the population move away from downtown to urban periphery or suburbs. The dominance of theoretical studies of urban sprawl tends to give the dominance of adverse effects rather than their good effects. Various theories about the concept to solve the negative effects have been done, but less successful. Other similar studies of urban sprawl also not found the concept of overcoming the negative effects of urban sprawl, except for only one Stan study (2013) on spatial hybrid concepts. This leads to a new research loophole or "Gap of Knowledge" through the concept of spatial hybrid that offers a concept development solution through a natural process so that the negative impact of urban sprawl will be improved.

Keywords - Spatial Hybrid, Sub Urbs, Urban periphery, Urban sprawl.

Reversible logic plays an important role in quantum computing to synthesis in electric circuits. In modern systems, power dissipation is high due to continuous switching of inbuilt components. In present generations, the difficulty of chips is increasing as more number of components or devices is fabricated on a single chip. Due to high density of disk, the power consumption is high. To reduce power consumption alternate method is power optimization method. The important method to achieve the optimization in power is by using reversible logic. It can be developed by low power CMOS technology .the reversible logic can be proposed for reducing quantum cost. It produces garbage outputs. In this paper we are implementing the 16 bit reversible ripple carry adder using Peres and HNG gate.

Keywords - quantum computing, Peres gate, garbage outputs, adder design, reversible logic.

This study presents an ensemble of predictive models with a focus on the predictive capabilities of Bayesian Additive Regression Trees (BART). Predictions are made for Modulus of Rupture (MOR) andTensileStrength(IB or Internal Bond) from a wood compositesmanufacturing process for three product types. Given the large number of predictor variables from the process, variable preselection was used prior to model development. Several regression methods including multiple linear regression, partial least squares regression, neural networks, regression trees, boosted trees, and bootstrap forest are compared with BART.BART had the best predictiveperformance in validation unanimously for bothMORand IBfor all three products examined. Bootstrap forest validation results were very similar to BART for one of the products. BART validation results of MORwere promisingfor the nominal...........
